Our guides

Klemen Vodlan

Klemen Vodlan

Klemen is the soul of the instructor’s team. When in shape, he can battle up an 8c, but he prefers travelling the world in his van, meeting new people and tasting different climbing styles and rock textures. He speaks English, German, Italian, French, Spanish, Croatian, Slovene and probably some other dialects as well. He is also the editor in chief of this climbing website – ClimbIstria, where he collects all the news of the region. He climbed most of the routes here, so you can rely on a can of premium quality beta spray. He also knows all the locals, traditions, history and anecdotes which he will share with you over dinner.

Kathi Kreiger

Kathi Kreiger

Katie originally is from Austria but has always felt more at home in the southern regions of Europe. Katie’s background as a social worker equips her with exceptional empathy and communication skills, making her a natural coach. Drawing on her extensive climbing experience, she provides valuable insights that help you build confidence on the rock while honing your technique with practical tips and tricks. One additional benefit Katie brings to her coaching is her acroyoga certification. If you’re feeling sore from a previous day of climbing, Katie can guide you through targeted rehab exercises, helping you recover quickly and get back on the wall.

Roni Nikolić

Roni Nikolić

Roni was born in Pula. He is the one that knows everything in this area. A climbing instructor and a coach, that is kind, friendly and supportive. He has done almost all the routes in Istria, so if you need beta, he’s your guy. Roni is flexible, patient, sometimes overly enthusiastic about gear, and generally easy to talk to. All this makes climbing with him a pleasure. Also, if you would require a soundtrack to help you send that first 6b, just tell him to bring the ukulele to the crag. A day full of climbing, laughter, great fights and amazing moments. Times you can’t forget!

Reviews

Issy, enthusiastic rock climber from UK:

“From the start to the end, my climbing completely changed.”

I did intensive climbing coaching with Klemen over 3 weeks. It was all outside, at different crags in Croatia and Slovenia. We went on loads of different rock types. The whole experience was a great adventure. From the start to the end, my climbing completely changed. I’m onsighting routes I previously would have struggled to redpoint. I am more confident on the range of moves you encounter on different formations of rock. And it was just loads of fun. He’s really good at spotting what you can improve and helping to make it happen, all with a smile and lots of encouragement. I highly recommend him as a coach, wether you want a climbing experience or you want to really improve your technique, he’s a great coach.

Zan Ray from USA:

“I have a ton of new knowledge I will take back with me.”

Climbing with Klemen was a marvelous experience. While visiting Slovenia, my plans in the Alps changed last minute. I came down to the coast and hoped to do some climbing there. When I contacted Klemen to see if he could meet me in the next couple of days, he said yes, that he could show me to the crags for the time I was in the area. This was great! Klemen was prompt and very professional. I’m still a beginner and Klemen knew just the right ways to push me while still being patient and encouraging. I know my climbing has improved markedly with the techniques Klemen showed me. I have a ton of new knowledge I will take back with me to the States as well as the memory of climbing at some stunningly beautiful crags. I whole-heartedly recommend Klemen at ClimbIstria. This was an experience I will never forget!
