Lovro Črep sends Martin Krpan (9a) in Mišja peč

Big news from Mišja peč! Slovenian competition climber Lovro Črep has clipped the chains on his first 9a — Martin Krpan.

Lovro shared his thoughts after the ascent:

“When I got to the crag, I wasn’t sure if it was going to be the send day or if I still needed a bit more training. After my second ‘warm-up’ route — actually an 8c to get properly activated for the project — I felt surprisingly good and started thinking, hmm, maybe today’s the day.
Once I started climbing, I felt solid on every move. Even the last bad rest before the big crux, where I’d fallen on most of my previous tries, felt much better this time. I got super psyched for the rest of the route.
Since I could recover more there, the crux felt totally under control, and I still had enough in the tank to push through to the top with endurance and consistent movement.”

Congrats, Lovro — impressive work and a well-deserved send!

Strong sends from the women’s side

The Czech powerhouse Tereza Širučková (22) ticked off Corrida (8c), the extension of the classic Rodeo (7a), after just a couple of warm-up tries — returning to the line 3–4 years after her first attempts. She also sent Strelovod (8c) on her first real go after quickly redpointing Marjetica (8b), Lahko noč Irena (8b), and Kaj ti je deklica (8b+). What a streak!

Slovenian climber Lucija Tarkuš also joined the Strelovod (8c) club — another great addition to her growing list of hard sends in Mišja peč.

Meanwhile, Ajda Remškar has been on fire as well, with an impressive trio of sends in Mišja peč: Pikova dama (8b), Sonče v očeh (8a+), and Chiquita (8a).

More hard sends across Istria

  • Italian Enrico Cassol climbed Working Class Hero (8c) in the big Osp cave — and without kneepads!
  • Simone Constantini from Italy as well, completed La Roulette (8b) in Skedenj.
