Autumn sends
Autumn has fully embraced Istria with its vibrant colors. After some initial rain at the beginning of the month, the weather has now settled into a perfect rhythm of sunshine, creating ideal conditions for challenging climbs.
Our journey begins with Kompanj, a picturesque crag situated just above the medieval village of Roč. Stefano Carnati, an Italian climbing powerhouse, conquered Klemen Bečan‘s masterpiece All in, I’m out (8c+) in only three attempts. Meanwhile, Andrea Pustetto flashed the crimpy and long Raw Powder War (8a).
In the world-class climbing area of Mišja peč, local climber Matjaž Zorko achieved a redpoint on the extension of Človek ne jezi se (8c+), and Eva Dana Vidmar successfully reached the chains of the powerful classic Corto (8a).
Also Croatians were successful. Igor Čorko completed the long traverse of Mr Big hand (8b+) and Siniša Škalec ticked Lahko noč Irena (8b).
Slovakian girl Monika Jakubcova sent classics Samsara (8a) and Mozaik (8a), last one on her second go, respectively.
There is also a new bolted route on the left side of Mišja peč, just above the former quarry. The invitable crack was bolted by Jurij Ravnik for a workshop of Festival alpinizma. So, now it is named Festival alpinizma, it is around 15 meters long and has a grade around 6a.
As a friendly reminder, we urge all visitors to our cherished crags to adhere to climbing ethics. Firstly, greet fellow climbers upon arrival, as you never know when you might need assistance. Secondly, always brush the holds after your climb or attempt. Lastly, ensure you leave the area cleaner than you found it—pick up your trash and even help remove any you come across. More information about climbing ethics can be found here.
The weather forecast for the upcoming days promises excellent conditions for climbing: sunny skies and cool temperatures, creating the perfect autumn backdrop for tackling challenging climbs and achieving your projects.
Have fun!
