Sendtember in Istria
The warm summer weather continues to linger. This Sendtember has been unusually hot for this time of year, with temperatures hovering around 30 degrees Celsius, making it feel like summer hasn’t ended.
However some climbers just refused to be beaten.
After the World Cup in Lead climbing in Koper in the beginning of the September, 17 years old Bulgarian climber Niki Rusev made a short visit to the big cave of Osp where he squeezed an onsight of Helikopter v omaki (8b). This was his first 8b onsight as well first one for Bulgaria.
The same route later was also repeated by Croatian climber Marko Kalčič.
In the neighboring Mišja peč, the young talent Andrea Chelleris successfully clipped the chains of the first part of horizontal Sanjski par (8c+). He promised that next time, he will do its 9a extension.
Across the border in Italy, in summer crag Baratro, Tina Berčič climbed her nemesis route, the crimpy Placcoman (8a).
In the Croatian part of Istria, specifically in Buzetski kanjon, within the summer sector known as Befana, Christer Raugland from Norway redpointed the classic Lap dance (8b).
While this Sendtember didn’t brought us perfect conditions for sending, let’s hope that Rocktober will provide just that. With temperatures expected to drop slightly in the coming week, we anticipate ideal climbing conditions and look forward to witnessing many challenging ascents and exciting news.
See you on the rocks!
