Car thefts in Osp parking lot + more news
Unfortunately, we’ve received more reports of car thefts at the paid parking lot in Osp. This has been a recurring issue for years, and despite being owned and operated by Agrarna skupnost Osp—who charges for its use—there has been little to no response from them, the Slovenian police, or Projekt Osp.
Interestingly, only the Pole climbers took direct action by waiting to catch the thieves in the act. Sadly, they were met with tear gas during the confrontation. We strongly advise you to take all you valuables out of your car.
Access news:
Down in the south part of Croatian Istria, the crag Vinkuran, near Pula, is currently closed until September. The area is hosting concerts and parties, so climbing is only possible at the small sector at the entrance on the right-hand side.
New routes in Črni kal:
On a brighter note, legendary Slovenian alpinist Silvo Karo has bolted, cleaned, and sent two new routes in Črni kal:
- Ostržek – 16 meters long 5c, located between Ducky Duff and Bugs Bunny in sector Risanke.
- 9. nebesa – a beautiful 35-meter route graded 6a+, situated just left of Konec raja.
New crag coming soon:
Stay tuned for a new crag release on our website in the coming days: the summer crag Skedenj, close to Sežana. Hidden for decades and once a secret local spot, Skedenj is now officially recognized and fully legal, with all necessary permits in place. We’ll let you know the moment it’s live!
Recent sends:
- Tim Pahor made a monster ascent of the 55-meter Osapska pošast (8c) in Osp cave. He did it without a kneepad and still downgraded it to 8b+!
- Nina Landekar crushed Laokoon (8a), the extension of Trojanski konj (7c+), also in the Osp cave.
- In the secret summer crag above Trieste, Baratro, strong Lana Skušek flashed La formica atomica (8a) and redpointed the pumpy La peste nera (8b+) which she commented as: ”Biggest fight of my life”. The later one was also done by her boyfriend Martin Bergant.
Enjoy the summer, climb in the shade, check out cooler crags—or go for some deep water soloing. Stay safe and have fun!
