Andrea Chelleris does Waterworld (9a) in a day
17-year-old local climber Andrea Chelleris is on fire! After competing in the Lead World Cup Series in Koper, where he finished an impressive 32nd, Andrea headed straight to the legendary Big cave of Osp — and came away with his first-ever 9a in a day.
Andrea, one of our youngest local climbers, set his sights on Waterworld (9a), a classic 50-metre-long test in the famous Osp cave. He managed to redpoint the route on his fourth attempt in a single day, putting together a very impressive performance.
Waterworld is a demanding route that combines different styles of climbing. The first 25 metres are steep and intense, climbing through the full roof with powerful and tricky moves. After the roof, the route turns into a long endurance battle on big tufas, all the way to the anchor.
Sending a 50-metre 9a in a day is a serious achievement — especially at just 17 years old!
And there was more the next day…
Andrea wasn’t finished yet. The following day he returned to Osp and onsighted Working Class Hero (8b+), adding another impressive onsight to his scorecard.
It was his second 8b+ onsight, and he climbed the route in a very controlled and confident style. It certainly looks like this young guy is in excellent shape at the moment!

And we have some more news from Baratro, the secret crag above Trieste!
The women are crushing hard once again. Lana Skušek added another difficult send to her collection, successfully climbing Apache Kid Extension (8b).
Meanwhile, Lucija Tarkuš continued her strong form by flashing the first part of the route, Apache Kid (8a+).
Looks like Baratro is delivering plenty of hard climbing once again!
