Access issue, rebolting, FA’s and hot sends
Summer is in full swing! This month brings an access issue at Črnotiče cave, a complete rebolting of Skedenj, new first ascents in Skedenj and Nugla, and impressive sends in Mišja peč and Baratro.
Črnotiče access issue
Our Italian friends reported a serious incident while bouldering in Črnotiče cave. During their session, a local man approached them and allegedly threatened them with a knife and a gun, demanding that they leave the area. Projekt OSP has been informed and will try to resolve the situation. If you experience anything similar while climbing there, leave the area immediately and call the Slovenian police on 113.
Rebolting in Skedenj
Projekt OSP and local climbers from Trieste have completed a major rebolting effort in the summer cave of Skedenj. All of the remaining routes have now been equipped with new bolts, meaning the entire crag is freshly rebolted. Great job, everyone!
First ascents
Gabriele Gorobey, better known as Sbisi, completed an old project in Skedenj. The route shares the start with Vision (8b+), then traverses left across the roof before continuing between Fight the Faida (8b) and Vision (8b+). The new route is named Jump high or goodbye and has a proposed grade of 8b.
In Nugla, Croatia’s famous summer cave, Gianfranco Dušić established a new link-up called Turist with a proposed grade of 8a+. The route starts up Nihilist, continues into Pesimist, and from the hole traverses left to finish via Pacifist.
Hot sends
Fourteen-year-old Croatian competition climber Nea Gržetić climbed her first 8b, sending the classic power testpiece Mrtvaški ples (8b) in Mišja peč.
In Baratro, Martin Bergant ticked Apache Kid lunga (8b), while his girlfriend Lana Skušek clipped the chains of Supercanna (8b+).
Weather forecast
The extremely hot weather is expected to continue for most of the week before temperatures hopefully ease a little. Stay in the shade, drink plenty of water, and cool off with a swim after climbing. Also deep water solo is a nice summer activity. Have fun!
