Top scores from the last week
In the last week the weather was so-so. It started with the tropical heat and humidity followed by perfect conditions with the sun and burja (strong and cold wind from the north-east).
Karies, the 8a+ in the sector behind the village of Osp was fur sure the route of the week. 😀 It was redpointed on the 3rd try of the day by only 12-years old Anej Batagelj. Couple of days later it was also climbed by strong Katja Kadič, as well on her first day on it in 5th try. Karies was one of the first Slovenias 8b’s, but in the last years with the better beta on the crux got downgraded and is nowadays considered more like a soft 8a+. Congratulations to both of them.
Tim Unuk visited Mišja peč, where he pulled through the long and hard 8b – the extension of J.S.F.K.! It is a 40-meter long route with the crux just under the anchor. The first 15 meters is a classic 7c+ on polished tufas, followed with endurance climbing to the good rest and after the final hard crux with an interesting jump. Well done, dude! 😀
An interesting ascent comes from Istarske toplice, where in the new sector strong Klemen Bečan onsighted Andrea Polo’s 30 meter slab with the name Anticanon and the grade of 8b. Of course, it is probably only the second ascent of the route. The route is characterized by micro crimps, many mono-pockets and shitty footholds. In the route there was obviously no chalk, so the onsight ascent makes even more spectacular. Bravo Klemen!
Klemen is also trying the new project in the cave of Osp with the working name The hidden project! We are offering you a reward only if you just find it! A hint: it goes for an extension of already existing route, it has around 50 meters, hard bouldery moves on sharp crimps and only one bolt in the extension. Which route is it? 😀
